A common civil enginering material was on display at the National Home Builders International Builders Show in January. A common reinforced concrete pipe commonly used for drainage applications, in civil engineering proujects, was turned into a tiny house. This creative application, of turning a 96-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe into a tiny house, was designed by an architectural student and the grand winner of a new design sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture. This creative use of a common drainage pipe, also made the Engineering News Record.
Could this be the wave of the future? The tiny house was fitted with a kitchen, bedrooms and all the furniture including cabinetry. No wall penetrations were used maintining the structural integrity of the pipe.
